As soon as I saw little Zoe's walking toward me I knew I was in for some fun. Her blue eyes are stop you in your tracks and when she smiles you cannot help but smile too.
There was no slowing her down.
A kiss for mom.

Besides work I have been busy w/ my boys...here are a few recent pictures.
Neither of the boys was up for many pictures at the pumpkin patch...which kills me as it is such a picturesque scene. Good thing there is always next year!!
Checkin' out the farm animals.
On our way to Oscar's first haircut.

I have received more than one inquiry if I was okay since I have not had a post in close to a week. I am fine...just trying to keep it altogether during this busy time of year. I will hopefully get back on track this week w/ my more regular posts.
This next family decided they wanted to try a different look than their past years' family photos. I was excited to take them to the industrial area. Their youngest is so beautiful but was not a fan of my camera. But we had fun and even managed to get a few of her.

Seviana surprised her parents by arriving 3 weeks early. And after meeting and photographing her I could see why she was ready to get out. At only 5 weeks old she was totally alert and wide-eyed the entire time. She is precious and showed me how much she already loves her mom and dad giving them big smiles as you will see in the 3rd image.

A few months ago a mother had contacted me to set up sittings of her children and their families while they were in town. She was giving them an early holiday gift. We kept our fingers crossed that rain would stay away since we would not have a chance to reschedule. Luck was on our side both days.
Lisa's family was fascinating. She is an esteemed astronomer and her husband had interesting stories to share from his infectious disease career. Their 15 year old son doesn't know what he wants to be when he grows up but if he is anything like his parents he is sure to travel very interesting roads.
Phil's family was also great to meet. Their 8 yr old daughter Lauren was had a ball exploring the Arboretum.

I have photographed the Kane family for a few years now. But it may be a few more before their oldest gets really psyched about seeing me w/ a camera. When he learns it is picture day he puts his parents through the wringer. This year when they arrived his eyes were so red I knew it had been a long afternoon for mom and dad. But once he realized he could be free and run there was no stopping him.
Getting a 3, 2, and .4 year olds all happy w/ no tears in the same frame was definitely a challenge. But a smile from the youngest is always a keeper!

I am getting so many requests to go to my favorite spot on Lake Washington. I get a little nervous shooting there so much as I want to ensure that each family receives unique images. The last thing I want is for my work to become cookie cutter. So each time I have challenged myself to find different angles and spots w/ each family. And I think I acheived it w/ the Baker family.
This next image was what I saw as I turned around while shooting their other daughter. It was really a magical moment and it may be my favorite image of the year.
And this is another that was happening while I was shooting the girls. It is simple but I like it because it was just how they were.

I have been wanting to do more shoots down in the industrial area but, understandably, most families have been wanting the park/water setting. So I was excited that my sister-in-law was up for trying something different this year. And now she is thrilled that she did.
