Oscar is two...

It has been a whirlwind since Friday. We had a big celebratory party for my husband finishing his residency on Saturday. It was something I had been looking forward to for years & it was hard to believe that we actually made it to the end. Needless to say we had a blast...now I have to think of an excuse to do it again in a few years.
Then on Sunday & Monday we were neck deep in moving & we have spent the last two days unpacking. Today I got my internet connection so I felt like a whole person again.
We celebrated Oscar's birthday on Saturday. He is two today. I had to laugh because the day I was discharged from the hospital after he was born I spent sitting in the park next to our house watching our moving truck get unloaded...two years later we did it again. This is not a tradition I plan to keep. I love our new house. I am sharing a birthday pic w/ you and then the boys enjoying their first bubble bath in our new home. The tub is a a photographer's dream as it has a sky light right next to it so the lighting is to die for!!

Out of touch

We are moving and I am waiting until the very last minute to box up my computer. Please contact me via the phone 206.325.6929 or 206.335.8098 if I do not respond to your emails.
I hope to be back up and running by Wednesday at the very latest.

Congratulations Josh!!

Earlier this year you may have read my post about one of the free sittings I did for Josh. He was such a great young man & he was so thankful and appreciative of me photographing his senior pictures. Photographing him was one of this year's highlights for me.
I talked w/ Josh the day before his graduation. He was excited to be finishing. It is such a great accomplishment for him. A few weeks ago the Seattle Times wrote an article that he was featured in. Click here to read. In the article he refers to Stacey Lara-Kerr as making a positive impact in his life. Stacey nominated Josh for the free sitting. It was great reading about these two people who are doing amazing things w/ their lives. Josh has already started taking college classes this summer and I am sure will light the world on fire one day.
Way to go Josh!!!

From the get go w/ this next shoot we were laughing, running and playing inside and out. They were just a week or two from having a new little brother or sister join their crew so they are going to have to make a little room in their tight circle of love for one more.

Grandchild #60!!

Can you imaging having 13 aunts and uncles all from one side of the family? Well little Anthony has just that and when he was born he was the 60th grandchild born. Amazing! He is almost 3 months old put up absolutely no fuss for our shoot. He let us do whatever we wanted and when he had enough he just nodded off too sleep.

I have been lucky enough to photograph little Flora throughout her first year. I am always guaranteed beautiful smiles and blue eyes with her. It was her first birthday and she LOVED the balloon her daddy got for her. I am looking forward to seeing her grow and change even more in the years ahead.

Happy Father's Day

My posts have been few and far between and may continue this way for the next few wks. But this time it is all good. This weekend we are celebrating my husband's completion of his medical training (9 yrs of work...)w/ a big party & then on Monday we are moving!!! We found a great house in Seattle that is perfect for our family and my work.
I had to post before heading to bed because my dad didn't get a Father's Day gift this year and he is so deserving of one. He is the best grandpa my boys could imagine and he loves them so much that I know he will be excited to see these images. Dad, these images were taken w/ you in mind. I hope they make you smile as much as you make the boys smile!
Most of these are from a great outing we had today. I tried to get a Father's Day picture w/ dad & both boys but as I always tell my clients I cannot get great pictures of my own family. But I like them anyway.
And finally the last two images are the first two Cooper & Oscar have ever taken. Not bad given that they can barely hold the camera itself.
Happy Father's Day!

I've gone a few more days than normal w/out blogging but unfortunately I had good reason. After shooting a beautiful little girl (who I had photograph for Soulumination earlier in the year) first birthday in Tacoma I enjoyed an evening celebrating my husband's completion of residency at a "ceremonial" dinner. Whenever I finish a shoot I always take my camera equipment directly from my car to my house. This time the dinner threw me off and I had forgotten to take my bag out of the trunk when we arrived home late that night. The first of the week when I went to get my bag I found nothing but an empty trunk. My heart sank and was in knots most of the week. I lost all of my equipment but even more painful was the loss of the images from the birthday party. It was a hard week! With my husband in medical school and residency I cut corners and did not buy Professional Insurance. To all you photographers that read my blog. Do NOT take the chance I did. Ensure that you have full coverage!!!
New equipment should be arriving today but my heart is still sick about the memory cards that cannot be replaced. I am still holding out hope that a miracle happens and the bag is found.
Now onto a more uplifting topic. I had the pleasure of running around the Arboretum w/ two adorable kids and their parents. Ben was like my littlest and loved his balls and following his older sibling everywhere. KK had an infinite number of smiles to share and I just love the series she shared w/ her dad.

I had been hoping to photograph little baby Max soon after he arrived but my schedule just didn't work. But I when the time opened up I was psyched to get to photograph Max & his faux hawk. He is the son of good friends of ours who I know love pictures and is a regular blog reader so I am excited to share their pictures w/ them. I think they left thinking Max did not give up any smiles but he fooled them...and Max's sister even joined in for a few.
