I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. My weekend was great because I got to see two moms that are on my mind all the time. I was in El Paso in March and was looking forward to seeing one of my favorite moms and big advocate of my work. In December of last year she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and has spent more days in the past six months in the hospital than at home battling this most aggressive form of cancer. She was so excited to have her girls photographed in March and we were so happy my visit was falling on a week she was not in the hospital but the morning of our sitting she was rushed to the hospital having contracted E. Coli given her very compromised ammune system. Amanda has continued to be so strong and positive throughout her aggressive treatment so I wanted to try my best and return to El Paso to give her something I know really makes her happy, pictures of her girls. I was so happy to see Amanda and her family on Saturday. We spent quite a bit of time photographing the girls in the room that has become Amandas world, her bedroom. The shared lots of smiles and spunk with me and I was so happy Amanda was able to be home for Mother's Day with her girls. Seeing you, Amanda made my Mother's Day. I think you epitomize what a great mother is and I am so glad you were able to spend Mother's Day with the loves of your life.
Amanda was expecting to be home for another week or two before returning to the hospital for her 7th round of treatment but yesterday she had to return early. So I am posting your images first Amanda because I really hope they will make you smile and help you rest. Your girls are beautiful! If you would like to follow Amanda's battle and send her good thoughts and prayers here is a link to her Caring Bridge site http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/amandajoy/mystory.
The second mom I got to see was my mom. She and my dad again stepped in to watch my boys while my husband and I worked the weekend away. Although we only had a few hrs to share together it is always nice to be with you mom!
