My family pictures always take a back seat to everything else. So I am trying to make a big effort to work through them before months go by. Here are a few from the past few wks.
The Easter egg hunt.
Cal Anderson Park in Capitol Hill recently completed a major face lift. It has become one of my favorite parks to visit in the city (which says alot since Seattle if full of so many beautiful parks). It is definitely worth a visit if you have time.
Behind Cooper is a huge water fountain.
The day we were there there was a guy doing back flips on the grass next to a group of guys practicing fire dancing...couldn't get much better. I love this next image because Cooper has been sitting like this since he was a baby. Doesn't look comfortable to me at all but he is as content as could be watching the action.
This is my nephew, Henry. I love the backwards hat. I just keep looking at the picture & being amazed at how old he looks. He's not a little guy anymore.

Sweet Samantha
Samantha was a serious little 9 month old but when she smiled her whole face lit up. She is her parents' first & you can tell how much they love her.
Some may not like this first image. But since I am a mom of a thumb sucker, I have a special spot in my heart for other thumb suckers. I just think it is a simple, sweet picture.

I am one that has always thought I could do w/o maternity images. I am not sure why that is because my clients are always happy w/ the results. But I finally took images that I am really happy w/ & will get me excited to do more maternity sittings. When I met Kim Stone I could not believe she is 2 wks away from her due date. She looked so great. Kim & John Stone were willing to go outside & let me explore my new obsession w/ colorful backgrounds. They have not seen the images yet & I cannot wait to get their feedback. Kim said I could give everyone a sneak peak before she sees them all tomorrow.

More twins...
Twins two months in a row...I LOVE IT!! Kate & Lauren are 5 1/2 mths & sisters to Bunker who I photographed when he was their age. They weren't quite sitting up so getting the two together, looking in the same direction, w/o anyone spitting up was a little bit of a challenge. But how could you not get cute pictures of these two???!!!
Kate
Lauren
Kate obviously already loves her brother.
Bunker was such a good sport amongst all the chaos.
And one last one of Bunker.

Happy Easter!!
I am looking forward to sharing a few pics from sittings I had this weekend but since it is Easter I wanted to share a few I took today that I love for many reasons. I was on a short walk w/ my sister-in-law & mother-in-law w/ a few kids in tow. After passing a house I realized I had been wanting to try shooting in front of the garage door. So I grabbed my neice, Elizabeth (one of the reasons I love these pics) & ran back for an impromptu shoot. My sister-in-law looked at me like I was crazy because she was afraid her daughter would freak out & be a bear for me. But Elizabeth couldn't have been a better sport indulging my picture taking addiction.
The colors reminid me of Easter so it is appropriate to share them on this day.
I think I will be making a few return visits to this garage door!

In love!!!
I recently photographed Katherine & Jim for their engagement pictures that I am using to design a guest book for them. It was so apparent how in love they are & how excited they are to have each other in their lives. I am really looking forward to photographing their wedding in June.

Greta in the Market
My morning started off so great on Friday because I got to photograph Greta in Pike's Place Market. She was a little shy at first but once we started exploring she was all giggles & smiles.
Since the blue gate in El Paso I have been keeping my eyes open for fun, bright backgrounds. These are a couple we came across...orange plywood in a construction zone.
and a school bus.
We had a firetruck pull up near us going on a call. This is a picture I wish I could have of my son as he, like most little kids, LOVES firetrucks.

Seth & Eli at the Park
I had been wanting to shoot at a new park in the hood so I took my camera along to see how it would look. Seth & Eli were unsuspecting victims of my research.
There are beautiful water features at this park that the kids loved.
I loved Seth's boots.
But I also loved when he took them off...

Tulips & Cupcakes
The start of the Tulip Festival may not be the best time to see the tulips at their fullest in the Skagit Valley but thankfully 3 yr olds don't know the difference between fields of tulips and a few gardens of tulips. We had a great time & I hope to get back in the next few wks to see the fields in full bloom. I'm tossing around the idea of shooting families there so if you are up for a road trip north for pictures call me.
I never tire of watching kids smelling flowers or hugging each other. The innocence of children is priceless!
Madeline & Cooper liked the tulips but cupcakes were the highlight of the day.
