New website and contest

I am over the moon excited to launch my new website today www.taraclarkphotography.com. I have been working hard on getting it finished for a few weeks now and it is great to have it up and running. Hopefully now I will be able to enjoy a few days w/o work...if I can keep myself away from my computer!

This past year I had high hopes of starting a monthly charitable sitting. In my mind I had grand plans but I ended up being so busy I never got it further than my imagination. So this year I want to start off right and I am looking to the public to give me direction. Through January 14th I will be accepting nominations for a deserving individual or family to receive a sitting and unique products from Tara Clark Photography. You can submit as many nominations as you would like. I would like to receive a paragraph or two as to what makes them a wonderful candidate. I will announce a "winner" on January 15th. The person who nominates the winner will also receive a free sitting. Please contact me if you have any questions. I am looking forward to hearing from you!!

Changes & my last shoot of 2006

With the change of my website I thought I better update my blog too. Hopefully you will like the changes. They are minor except for the size of the images which I am loving! I must send a thank you to a fellow photographer, Cory Ann Ellis in Brookings, SD for giving me some tips on html coding to make it all work.
My client's family was going to be in town for the holidays. She was really hoping to get all the cousins together for one picture. I warned her that the weather may not cooperate that late in the year but she was up for anything. Well it was windy, rainy & dark...not the most optimal conditions for what I do. But we all tried to make the best of it. Here are a few from the day.

New website & New Year's contest coming soon!!

I have been working hard to get a new website built. And I am ecstatic to write that I should be launching my new site tomorrow!! Along w/ the launch I will be announcing a New Year's "contest" that I am also super excited about. So check back soon to get all the details and see my new site!

On Thursday, I kept hearing about a storm that was going to hit Seattle. But that is nothing new and I guess I wasn't listening close enough to realize the wallop the storm was promising to punch. Well, late Thursday night I learned that next time I will pay closer attention. We lost power and it was not returned until early this morning. Let me tell you how hard it was on me not to be able to access my business computer or the web for 3+ days. AGONIZING!! But we are fortunate that all we lost was power. When it got too cold to stay in our home we were able to stay with family nearby so our inconvenience level we manageable. It is hard to believe that there are many still w/o power and it may be days until it returns. Please keep all those families in your thoughts and I hope they will be able to be w/ family during the holiday season.
Here are a few pictures of my boys that I thought were apropos for the past few days.
Off to try and fix the problems in the 'hood.

I wonder if the power guys were having as much fun as Oscar...

Hopefully they got to cuddle up to the cupcake bar at their local coffee shop after a hard days work.

Cooper found the perfect graffiti message for the weekend.

Then he went on a hunt for people left behind.

A look back

The past few days I have been running on adrenaline because I am so excited about a few new things going on. I am in the process of designing a new website that I cannot wait to "debut". I have been workign day and night on it because I just cannot wait to get it up and running. Then yesterday I bought myself an early Christmas present. I bought a top of the line printer. It is something I have been wanting for a long time but I was waiting for a specific design to hit the market. It finally did this month and I was lucky to get my hands on one of the few available (I just couldn't wait until after the new year when I'm sure there will be plenty to go around).

While I have been working on my site I came across a few pictures that I thought would be fun to share given the season.
These are from Cooper's first Christmas (2003). It is apparent he was a Phoenix baby since it looks like all I felt was necessary for him to wear was a diaper...who needs clothes when it's 85 degress in December??!!
The first was our holiday card.

Now that I found these maybe I will look into sharing a few from Oscar's first Chrismas last year...if only there were 30 hours in the day!!

Last holiday sitting!!

As much as I love my work I must admit I am very relieved to have finished my last sitting for the holidays. I have been going non-stop for 4 months so this little lull is a relief. I have almost finished all my custom card designs so life may return to a normal pace very soon. But I have a few exciting things in the works for 2007 so I don't think I will be resting for long.
You have seen these two on my blog quite a bit over the past year. They just moved into their new home which was perfect for holiday pictures w/ a vibrant red door.
Sophia and Joseph were so cute sitting on the steps chatting away.
Fun with dad.

My blogging may be a little sporadic these next few wks. I do not have many shoots scheduled so if nothing else you may get to see a few more of my boys.
Happy Holidays!

I spent the weekend at my sister-in-law's to celebrate her youngest daughter's 3rd birthday. Her home gets great afternoon light. After a fair amount of begging her daughter agreed to a short little photo shoot to capture her big day. For a 15 minute photo session I came away w/ so many favorites that I must share all the collages I put together (the collages are a little small so if you want to see a larger version just click on the collage).

Then Cooper joined in on the action.

And just a couple more taken that day.
Oscar's two favorite things right now...climbing onto counters and playing w/ phones.

This one I am in love with.

A future football star??

I apologize for the family photo dump but I really loved these and this is an easy way to share w/ our family that does not reside in Seattle.

I have photographed these Trevor & Griffin for quite a few years now but I forgot that kids continue to age. When the car door opened and I saw them I was SHOCKED at how they are not little guys anymore. Time definitely needs to slow down!
I was excited to get these guys running around the industrial area. I had a blast w/ them. I had a tough time narrowing pictures down so I thought I would try something new and share a few collages.

Seriously...how cute are they!!!
I love the little secret telling Trevor is doing here.

This series of Griffin just makes me laugh. He definitely is not a wall flower!

So that is a ton of images. But I just can't stop myself from sharing a few favorites w/ dad.

And my favorite of the bunch.

We are finally thawing out from the surprising snow & ice storm. It was great to see the white stuff in the city and I have to say I really love the pace of life people are forced into when they cannot drive or work. If only that could stick around after the thaw! I had fun w/ my boys both evenings it snow. If I get my work caught up maybe I can even share a few pics of Oscar's first experience w/ snow...a child's wonder is priceless!
The day after I returned from my trip I have to say I was a little hopeful for rain as I knew the work had piled up in my absence and if it rained I could avoid adding more to the pile. But that morning the sun was, to everyone's surprise, out. And I have to say I was so glad my hopes did not come true. I did one shoot in the industrial area that I should be sharing tomorrow and I did the Brown family at their home as the rain and darkness neared. I have to admit I have never been a big fan of shooting indoors. But I became enlightened during my workshop and now have a whole new perspective and excitment about shooting indoors.
W/ the light and attention span of 3 girls under the age of 3 (YES 3 under 3...soon to be 4 under 4) time was definitely working against us so I started shooting as soon as I walked in. And am I glad I did.
Mom & dad are IN trouble in the years ahead...are these girls beautiful or what??!!
Their youngest was a very quick study.
We did have fun outside too but I am so exited about the inside stuff I thought I'd let you take a look at the outside stuff in their gallery. Here is just a teaser from outside.
