I had really been looking forward to photographing this next family for a number of reasons. I have known this couple for over 10 years now and although we don't see each other often I always enjoy talking with them and seeing their beautiful girls. I photographed them when they were a family of four and was so excited to have an opportunity to capture them as their family has grown. Kerri also loves photography so I hoped to get a few pictures of her w/ her girls which never happens when you are the one always taking the pictures. Our plan was to meet at a beach setting but after much discussion Kerri followed her instinct of wanting something different and went in a different direction which I was so pscyhed about. I had a lot of fun running around with the girls and it was hard for me to put my camera away...the girls smiles, eyes and giggles were infectious!
Kerri is a frequent blog reader, referring to herself as a blog stalker (Kerri, I LOVE blog stalkers and am learning as of late that there are many of you out there which makes the work involved in keeping this updated all worth it for me!) so I hope she enjoys seeing her family on my blog.
I am so excited (and envious) for them as they are about to move to Germany for a few years. I hope some of these images will fill their new home with lots of color and love.

I had been really looking forward to photographing this next family as the sitting was a birthday gift from Brian to his wife and the sitting was going to happen on her birthday...but then the unpredictable fall weather set in and messed with our birthday plans. Fortunately we were able to reschedule and the day turned out to be a beautiful one. Happy Birthday Sharmila!!

This afternoon was so much fun for me because I finally got to share all the images of Chase's birth with her parents. I spent quite a bit of time trying to find the perfect songs for the slideshow so I was so relieved to hear that Malia (Chase's mom) thought the were perfect. And to hear how much they loved it and are so happy that they had me there. She couldn't wait to get home and watch it over and over. She was so wonderful to give me permission to share it hear.
You may have an initial thought that it may be something that you don't want to see (that is the reaction my assistant gave me when she saw me working on the slideshow...a minute into the show she had tears running down her cheeks and thought it was great) but I think you will be surprised by your response.
Click here FYI The slideshow only plays on PCs.
Thank you Malia & Bob

I photographed the next little guys last year and could not get over their incredible eyes...you will find a pic from that sitting on my website...it remains one of my favorites.
There was a little hesitancy and shyness from the youngest but soon enough he big eyes and smile were matching his brother's.

I am not sure if there is anything more precious than a newborn. I always look forward to photographing babies when they are less than 6 wks old because they are so tiny. Little Gia was already in model form staying awake and tearless for the entire shoot. I just wanted to tuck her into my camera bag at the end of our sitting and sneak her home with me!!

I always look forward to photographing in a new location. I definitely have my favorite spots to shoot in Seattle but going to a new spot and discovering & exploring the spaces potential is always fun and challenging. My client choose this spot because her family goes there often. When I scouted out the small park I got so excited by what was there I couldn't wait for their sitting. I LOVED this little door I found. It didn't jump out at passer-byers (my client said she had never even noticed it) but it was a stunning setting that I definitely want to go back to.
These boys were full of energy and on the go the entire shoot which is always fun for me because I think spontaneity is what creates great pictures. It can be fraziling for the parents who are hoping for their kids to be on their best behavior but I LOVE it and will take kids full of energy way ahead of kids that just sit and look into my lense....of course a mix of the two is ideal which is exactly what I got from these three boys!

How to avoid this look when you call to book...

Call or email me today if you want to schedule a sitting before the end of the year.
If you wait much longer you may end up looking like my sad son...

I AM FULLY BOOKED FOR SEPTEMBER. THE LAST DATE AVAILABLE FOR HOLIDAY PRINTS, CARDS & GIFTS IS NOVEMBER 15. (This does not pertain to newborn sittings) That leaves a 6 week window of sittings and they are filling very fast. I REALLY hate to say "no" to anyone who calls to schedule a sitting but I am going to stick to my guns this year...when I am fully booked I will not squeeze in last minute pleas...this year my holiday gift to my family is a semi-sane & present mom!

An incredible night!!

As I mentioned in an earlier post I had the honor of photographing the birth of a client of mine. I had been anxiously awaiting a call since mid-August as she was due on the 18th. The 18th came and went to the dismay of the mother-to-be. At 12:30am on the 22nd I received a call that her water broke and they were heading to the hospital. After a long day of slowly progressing she was ready to begin hard labor at 8pm that night. It was so incredible to have the opportunity to photograph the arrival of Chase Katherine who came into the world at 7 minutes after midnight on the 23rd. At 9 lbs 13 oz we were all amazed at her mom's ability to deliver her with a big smile.
I am SOOOO excited to share the slideshow of all the images with them very soon. For now here are a few of my favorites of the night of Chase w/ mom & dad, dad's mother & mom's sister who were the sole survivors of the long day in the waiting room.
