Photographing twins is always a special challenge & complete wild card as to what will happen. Karsten & Ryann were not too happy to be the stars of the show when we started...
But it didn't take long for the 7 1/2 mth olds to warm up...

Soon it was kisses all around...

and time to eat...

The freedom to shoot

Garrett & Madeline's shoot was one of my most favorite shoots I have ever done because I got to do something I have always hoped for. It was just me & the kids. It was a great compliment that the parents trusted my work enough to walk away & not feel like they needed to be there to provide instruction/direction to their kids. I am lucky that most of my clients let me do whatever I want but this was definitely the ultimate in freedom and I LOVED it! I had so much fun running around w/ these two & I think they did too. It is hard narrowing down which images to post here. There are a ton w/ Madeline's gorgeous smile but I keep coming back to this more serious one w/ her amazing eyes.

Little Grace may be one of the most photographed little ladies I know. I have loved photographing her since her birth. She is always beautiful w/ a backdrop but she was in heaven (and just lit up...see her gallery) as soon as we hit the grass. She was the only one that didn't seem to mind the cold.

Before the holidays my sister-in-law had shared w/ me news of a mother at her son's school. Elizabeth was 24 wks into her pregnancy and diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. Elizabeth has two boys 6 & 7 & was due with her 3rd in December. I asked my sister-in-law to give her a gift of a sitting for me. Sometimes when I make donations I never hear from the recipients so I was ecstatic to get a call from Elizabeth in February. Luke William was born close to Thanksgiving & Elizabeth has continued her battle. It was such an honor to photograph Elizabeth & Luke & to learn more about Elizabeth's journey. She received the strongest chemotherapy possible while carrying Luke & is continuing chemo treaments with hopes to reduce her mass enough to have a successful surgery. I have looked forward to sharing her story and images with you but wanted to confirm with Elizabeth that she was comfortable w/ being on the web. She has an amazingly calm & strong spirit about her. Please keep Elizabeth & Luke in your thoughts and prayers in the weeks and months to come.

Gracyn Clara 4 wks

I was lucky to be in El Paso 4 wks after Gracyn Clara Hunt was born. I LOVE photographing newborns because it is such a short time that babies are so tiny.



And, as always, I loved photographing Gracyn's older sister, Hayden, who was so loving towards her new little sister.

I have had my nose to the grindstone (or butt on the desk chair) day & night working through the El Paso families. It is easy to spend endless hours at the computer because I am probably as excited, if not more excited, to see what the images look like than my clients are. Here are a few of a beautiful 10 1/2 month old. Meredith was on the move. There was no sitting still in her world. And if she could get her hands on a few rocks she was a happy camper.

I really like these two w/ her grandparents. It is not often I get to shoot little ones w/ their gps but I think it is such a special relationship that definitely should be captured.

The next set of images may not be the parents' favorites as there are sooo many cute ones of little Larkin but I wanted to share a few of mine that I think are the essence of a 2 year old.
The fascination with flowers is always wonderful to watch unfold...
I don't remember what got this reaction but I just love it. Especially w/ the ballet slippers.

Larkin's cousins Carli & Faith came for the 2nd half of the shoot but by then Larkin had spotted the playground. So to the playground we went...

A few swings & rides down the slides & she came back for a few w/ the cousins & showed them how much she loved them.

Besides getting to photograph an amazing wedding on Oahu I also got a chance to visit my sister & her family. Having them so far away limits our time together which makes me sad. But it also always makes each visit something great to look forward to. My sister was so excited to have family pictures taken at a picturesque locale but Mother Nature had other plans. Daily torrential downpours forced us to take pictures 10 feet from their front door. Here are a few of my favorites.





Yes...my sister has 5 kids (w/ only two I am constantly wondering how she does it!) Chase is 15, Kyle is 13, Matthew and R.J. are 8 and Abbie is 4. On Saturday I photographed the Pendergras family. They were one of the first families I photographed after moving to El Paso. Tonight, I looked back at their images and realized it is almost exactly a year ago that I photographed them with their newest addition Ian. So I thought I would share images from this year and last as it is fun to see how much change happens in just a year.

One more to add before heading off to bed...this is another family that I was so excited to photograph again. You will recognize them from my website. The Bloss family is as nice as they are beautiful! Justin, Lauren and Avery were so cooperative (not easy given their ages) and it was obvious how much they loved their parents.

Here are a few from a wonderful client of mine. I have been so fortunate to photograph little Grace since she was a newborn. While I was in El Paso I got to photograph both Grace and her cousins' family who were visiting from Austin. Here are a few from last Friday. I will share more of Grace from her Sunday sitting as soon as I get caught up...I have at least made it through my first day in El Paso!! Two more to go (in other words more images to come soon...).

I have been on a whirlwind ride and am finally getting my feet back on the ground. After Hawaii I flew home alone w/ my 2 little one, got 2 hours of sleep & headed back to the airport to fly to Texas. In 2 1/2 days I had 16 family sittings. I had such a great time shooting non-stop. I thought I would share a few images from each sitting.
The first two are adorable cousins (2 1/2 yrs and 8 mths). Once the little boy realized he could crawl on the grass he was off & going & sitting for pictures went out the window.
