Tomorrow night I am going to be hanging more images than I have ever shown at one location. And they are going to be bigger than ever too (I have two five foot canvases that I cannot wait to hang) and I am excited to announce that there will be an "Artist Reception" on Tuesday, September 8th from 7-9pm at Victrola Cafe in Capitol Hill (411 15th Avenue E, 98102). Come enjoy a glass of wine or beer and see my Laos images up close. If you can't make it on the 8th the work will be up for the month of September.

I am excited to post this next sitting as the mom is one of my best friends (and the second person on of my small focus group of two...if you read the last post you know what the heck I am talking about). I think the world of her and consider myself extremely lucky to have such an amazing person be a part of my life. She got a tiny sneak peak from a post I did on Facebook and she emailed me immediately, ecstatic w/ the picture and added, "Why is it that getting photos back generates the same feelings as Christmas morning when you are a kid?" I share her sentiments about pictures and I feel fortunate that I get to play Santa Claus throughout the year w/ my clients.
There is one more reason I am posting these today. I have convinced her to join me on a 3-man team for tomorrow's Urban Oyster Challenge, so if she starts cursing me for talking her into the crazy race, as we slog up another hill, I will remind her how happy she was w/ me today...
Jamie & Katrina-I think you are amazing people and parents. Just looking at your girls it is apparent that you are doing things right!

It is family week at Tara Clark Photography. I walked my neighborhood with another in-law family and was able to snap a few that I hope they will love. I have often referred to my sister-in-law, Lauren, as my focus group. Over the years she has been spent endless hours of listening to my business ideas & provided insightful feedback & support that has definitely made an impact on how my business evolved to where I am today. Thank you Lauren! I hope in the years to come that when you look at these images that not only do you smile because your family is so beautiful but also because you will be reminded that you played a big part of making my work better.

The power of words, the importance of perspective
For the most part I keep this blog strictly focused on photography and avoid sharing too much of my personal beliefs and views. But this morning I am moved to break that rule as I have been sitting in front of my computer with tears streaming down my cheeks. I feel compelled to share what has moved me so much. If you have been a long time reader here or have explored a few of my links you may know about my niece Abbie who is a drowning survivor. She just turned 8 on the 23rd. Since her accident 5 years ago my sister has maintained a blog to update family and friends on Abbie's life. My sister has an amazing talent for writing and her entries are often moving but today's moved me beyond belief and I think her words should be shared and can relate to eveyones' life.
Happy Birthday Abbie!
A post to cherish!

While on our short vacation I did manage to pull my cameras out for one family sitting. While enjoying my sister-in-laws family home on the lake we managed to squeeze in time to photograph her family in some beautiful morning sun. It has been a few years since I photographed the kids and I was floored by how much they have grown, changed and matured. They made my job very easy.

This next family moved back to NYC last week and is in the midst of settling back into home. Hopefully these pictures will break up the headaches of unpacking and leave them smiling. It only took a few minutes for their little girl to warm up and then the fun was ON!!
This was a Mother's Day gift so I must start it off w/ my favorite of her with mom...

My first sitting with this little guy was so easy and he just kept the good times rolling into our second shoot together. I don't think I need many words to describe how great he was and how much his parents love him, these pictures speak for themselves!

I met these two beautiful little girls a few years back and they were big troopers playing w/ me in the drizzle. It was on of my most memorable sittings. Most parents would have thrown in the towel w/ the first sign of rain, but their parents just went with it and it paid off. This time the sun was out and they brought along their brother for me to meet. He was following right in their footsteps, so fun and cute!!

Fall El Paso visit announced
I cannot believe it is getting to be that time of year...summer is coming to an end and the holidays will be here before we know it. I have just put my El Paso weekend shoot on the calendar. I will be in town the weekend of September 12th. Call or email me if you would like to schedule a sitting.
Family was in town for this little guy's baptism. I met them all a few years back when the weekend his sister was baptized. They are such nice and easy going people. The kids shared smiles with me that I am sure kept all the adults entranced during their visit. ADORABLE!!

Its been very quiet here because I was enjoying myself w/ a week away with my family. Coming home last night I was wishing we could spend the whole summer playing together. We had so much fun and it felt so great to relax with friends and family and put our work aside for a short time. And now the whirlwind of being self-employed begins. I am up to my eyeballs in work and I have a feeling from now until the new year this will be life as I know it. Thank goodness I love my job!!
I have a few families who have had to wait a little longer than usual so I am going to get to posting...
The last few times I have photographed this family I have left thinking I can't believe I started with this couple for maternity pictures with their first. It is incredible to see families grow, kids take on thier personalities and watch the bonds that get stronger each time. This brother and sister were so cute together. Lots of big laughs were had by all.
