We just returned from a short visit to San Francisco. Each time I go I always wish there was a way I could live there part-time. What a great city. We got to meet our friends' little girl for the first time and of course I could't keep the camera in the bag for the whole visit with them.

I have shot more maternity sittings in the past 6 wks than I have in the past 6 mths and I now find myself looking forward to the next. Kristin was a great subject. She is beautiful and so photographic. She is due on the 14th. I cannot wait to meet her little one.

The Sponge School

I was invited to photograph classes at the Sponge School. I had heard about the 0-5 yrs language school but was not expecting to be as impressed w/ the classes as I was. They offer 1 hour classes for French, Spanish, Japanese & Mandarin. I photographed the Mandarin class & enjoyed watching the teacher in action. Throughout the hour only Mandarin was spoken. The interaction & activities she provided was terrific. If you live in Seattle and have little ones you should definitely check this place out.

A walk to the park...

I was returning from a shoot when I saw a friend walking w/ her girls and a playmate to the park. I coudn't contain myself from jumping out of my car to capture them. Although it was a beautiful blue sky day, Parker was dressed for the potential downpour.
I was invited to photograph the Cronin family.
And to document 4 generations of women.
We also got Grandpa w/ his grandkids on the playset he built for them when they were young. He is such a cute man and obviously adored by his grandkids.

The kids were great and so enthusiastic about having their pictures taken which always makes my job that much easier.

I will always remember Trevor because he was requesting individual pictures w/ his parents. Very sweet!

A family of beautiful girls!

Last week I got to meet a wonderful family with 4 girls full of personality. Their mom Gretl warned me that our window of time (attention span) would be short and was a little unsure of how it would go. If only Gretl knew that these types of sittings are ones I really enjoy because chaos rules and that is when I get to just snap away & capture kids' real personalities. What a great family this was! They are going to have so much fun watching their girls grow.
I love her tongue & missing front teeth in this one.

This image may not be that exciting but each time I look at it I can't believe it actually has 6 sets of eyes all looking forward.

Kids are the best!!!

Seriously, what could be more fun than photographing kids???!!! Every child is unique & has a personality that shines. Ihate to admit this but, as a mother, it is often hard to see how another child could be as wonderful as my own (what mother doesn't think their kids are the most amazing kids??!!) This may sound cheesy but I swear it is true, when I look through the camera's view finder all of the sudden I see why a parent would love that child to death. Kids' personalities jump through the lense & just grab me. And each time I can't wait to see if I was able to capture the personalities that opened up to me. I feel it is like Christmas every time I sit down to my computer to download the images. I just can't wait to see what I got.
I have been doing a year-end project for my son's school & have LOVED photographing all the children. Over the next week I will try and share images that I hope captured their spirit & the innocence of being a little person.

11 Days Old

Yesterday I got the pleasure of meeting little Harper Louise. She arrived on the 26th of April & the doctors deemed her a miracle baby because she had a knot in her cord. When I first saw her she was sound asleep and I got to admire her perfect little features.

She must have spent the past 9 months preparing because she was an wonderful little model staying wide awake for the entire shoot. That is a feat for someone her age!
I am excited for Kim & John to see Harper's pictures. Kim gave me the go ahead to give them a little sneak peak.

This last one makes me laugh. It looks like Harper just told a great joke.

This was my 2nd maternity sitting in one week & after the shoot I thought to myself that I turning over a new leaf because I really enjoyed shooting both sittings (maybe I shouldn't admit this but in the past maternity pics have been my least favorite subject to shoot) & now have me looking forward to the next one.
Margo & Erik were another special couple. Erik played a very active role in the shoot which is not always the case for husbands. It was great to see his enthusiasm & his obvious love for his wife & baby to be. Margo is due on Thursday. I can't wait to meet baby Fraker!
We shot a few at their home & then took advantage of an incredible Seattle day & went to the arboretum for more.

I have never had much luck w/ clear reflection shots. The water was perfect that day.

To see more check out their show.
